# Gameplay

Everything that happens during a shift.

***

## The Shift

1. **Lobby** - Talk to the job NPC. The owner picks the stand type in the lobby panel and invites nearby players (8 m). Nobody can be invited after the shift starts.
2. **Vehicles** - A tow vehicle and the trailer spawn. By default the owner is put in the driver seat and the crew in the passenger seats.
3. **Hitch** - Back up to the trailer and press **J**. Any normal vehicle can tow it; motorbikes, bicycles, boats and aircraft cannot. You cannot hitch or unhitch while moving.
4. **Open** - Park the trailer, stand still and press **E** at the control point (front right, hitch side). Hydraulic legs come down and level the trailer, so the counter stays straight on uneven ground.
5. **Work** - Buy supplies, cook, serve.
6. **Close & return** - Close the stand with **E**, tow it back and press **E** at the finish marker. Unused stock is partly refunded.

{% hint style="info" %}
An open stand closes by itself if the trailer moves. Two open stands must be at least 9 m apart.
{% endhint %}

## Supplies

Press **G** at the control point to open the supply menu. The owner pays per item. A courier NPC walks up and puts the box down next to the trailer; pick it up and the stock goes into the stations.

At the end of the shift (or on a reset) **80%** of the unused stock is refunded by default. A player who disconnects gets a full refund.

## Stations

Which stations a trailer has depends on its type (see [Overview](/scripts/food-stand.md#9-stand-types)).

| Station                   | What you do                                                                                                           |
| ------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Chop board** | Turn raw ingredients into ready ones (raw → ready) |
| **Grill / plancha** | Cook patties, sausages and meat. Watch them: raw → cooked → **burnt** |
| **Fryer** | Raw fries into the basket → fry → lift and empty the basket on the tray → scoop |
| **Doner spit** | Carve the doner |
| **Assemble table / line** | Build the order by hand: stack the burger, top and cut the pizza, wrap the doner, roll the sushi, scoop the ice cream |
| **Drinks**                | Soda, water, ayran                                                                                                    |
| **Register** | Take orders from customers |
| **Packing** | Pack the finished order into a bag |

### Hand controls

At the counter and the grill you move a cursor with the mouse. On the right half of the screen your right hand reaches there, on the left half your left hand. Left click picks up the prop under the cursor with that hand. It is not a progress bar: every ingredient is picked and placed by you.

`/foodstandmouse 0.3-2.0` changes the mouse speed at the stations.

## Orders

### NPC customers

NPCs walk to the queue (up to 4 at once) and order. Some come in groups of 2–3. By default their order goes straight to the kitchen list.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Register mode for NPCs.** Set `Config.Register.npcOrders = 'register'` to make NPCs say their order at the register: the cashier enters it in the register panel and charges it. A wrong entry makes the customer object, and after 2 wrong entries they leave.
{% endhint %}

### Player customers

Real players always order through the register:

1. The customer presses **E — Place Order** at the stand.
2. The cashier builds the cart in the register panel and picks the player.
3. The bill pops up on the customer's screen; they pay by card from their bank.
4. When the order is packed, the food goes to the customer's inventory (they must be at the stand).

### Special requests

About 40% of NPC orders come with a request such as **"No Onion"**, **"No Onion, No Mayo"** or **"Extra Cheese"**. Meet it and the tip is 1.5x.

### Timing

| Delivered        | Result                                           |
| ---------------- | ------------------------------------------------ |
| Within 120 s     | **On time:** tip, and demand recovers            |
| After 120 s      | **Late:** no tip, demand drops                   |
| Not within 190 s | The customer **takes the money back** and leaves |

Types whose main dish takes longer than a burger get extra time.

### Packing

A finished product goes to your **inventory**. At the counter, **E — Fill Order** / **Pack Order** puts it in a bag with the order details, and the bag goes to the customer.

### Task list

Press **R** for the open orders and the stock of each station.

## Customers & Demand

| System            | How it works                                                                                                                                    |
| ----------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Demand** | Every stand starts at 1.0. Late or missed orders lower it; it recovers over time and with on-time deliveries. It sets how often customers come. |
| **Reputation** | Every NPC order is scored 1–5 stars. After 3 orders, the average speeds up or slows down customers. A new shift starts from zero. |
| **Food area** | Other open stands within 40 m change the customer rate: the same type splits customers, other types draw a bigger crowd. |
| **Customer look** | NPC outfits depend on the time of day and the area. Everyone sees the same NPC. |

## Your Menu

The stand owner picks which menu items the stand sells and sets each price between **0.5x and 2x** the base price. The menu is saved in the owner's profile and locked when the shift starts.

* A higher price means fewer orders for that item and smaller tips.
* The trailer's **menu board** shows the live menu to everyone nearby.

***

## Pay

Every delivery pays **at once** (price + tip):

1. A member with a **fixed share** set by the owner gets that first.
2. **30%** of the rest goes to the owner.
3. The remainder is split by this shift's **job points**: grill, prep, wrap (counts double), pack and register.

The shift summary at the end shows your earnings, XP and the stand's sales, tips and supply cost.

***

## Food Items

The 55 food and drink items are **usable**. Using one removes it and raises hunger or thirst, with an eat or drink animation and the food in hand: a lick for ice cream, a fork for bowls and sushi, a slice for pizza. See [Items](/scripts/food-stand/items.md).

***

## Stand Music

The crew of an open stand can open **Stand Music** and add YouTube links. The list plays in a loop at the stand, and players within 20 m hear it. Each player sets their own music volume.

***

## Progression

* **XP and level** per player, saved when the shift ends.
* **Daily tasks**: delivered orders, on-time deliveries, player orders and money earned.
* **Leaderboard** of the job.

***

## Crew & Sync

* Stock, orders, pay and progress are checked on the **server**.
* Props, customers, hand movements and the grill state are **synced** to nearby players.
* Every client event is **rate-limited** per player and guarded on the server. A flood of events from one player is dropped, and the stand keeps running for the rest of the crew.
* If the **owner drops**, ownership moves to an online member. A member who drops can rejoin and get their seat back.
* The crew sees its tow vehicle and trailer on the map. An open stand can also show a **public blip** for all players.
* An optional **Discord shift log** records shifts.

## Tutorial

The tutorial runs only during a shift. The first shift shows step-by-step cards, and every station shows a card the first time you use it. Off shift, near the job NPC, nothing shows until you start a shift. **PAGE DOWN** skips a card, **DELETE** closes the guide. `/standguide` shows it again.
